Can't create connection to SQL Server [message #1771296]

I've just install Eclipse Oxygen and I'm trying to create a new JPA project.

I'm able to do everything to create the project except create a connection to SQL Server Express. I've downloaded the SQL Server JDBC jar file, I've created the driver and specified said jar file and I've set the connection properties.

When I close that window I'm left with a message to select a driver from the dropdown to continue.

What's missing or what am I missing? I've tried this on both Windows and Mac versions of Oxygen.
