Some plugins, especially my plugin anqu method is not found by the Market Place Client. As I'm informed plugins are not found if they are not open source.

In the moment, my plugin is free to use at no costs at all. I do not want to make money with it. But I've invested time and money in creating and promoting the plugin. Now I heard that some potential users gave up because the Market Place Client could not find it. It is of course available in the online version of the Market Place.

I wonder if the policy could be changed so the search can find any plugin. There could pop up a message when trying to install the plugin directly (hinting to the update site).

Thanks for the hint. Here is the duplicate entry in the other forum

https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?t=msg&th=1088313&goto=1770927&#msg_1770927

I consider it a kind of legal/management decision and as such non-technical.

MPC only returns listings without a commercial license for the Recently Updated Listings, Top Favorited Listings & Most Popular Listings API calls. (The search is also included in this group.)

There is an exception to this rule, we will include a listing with a commercial license if it was submitted by an Eclipse member company.

I don't believe we have any plans to changes these rules but if you are interested in starting a discussion, you can open a new bug against the Eclipse Marketplace website on Eclipse Bugzilla: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/

Thanks, I had a look at the API description and also tried some search requests in the Market Place Client.

I have not been able to find the anqu method plug-in (which has a licence of type "other") by the search for the word anqu. However the search for the quoted "anqu" has found the plug-in.

In my eyes searching for a part of a plug-in's name should be possible without quoting it.

I have to correct myself: The hits in the search may have resulted from a temporary test when I switched to a "other open source" license. After switching back to "other", the plug-in is not found.

So I wonder about two things now:
Why is quoting necessary?
Why does "other" licence not mean "non-commercial" since there is an explicit license type "commercial"?
