Very basis issue
Using Eclipse 3..8 on Raspbian OS (Raspberry Pi)
Cannot finish compiling because not having "permissions " to write to workspace.
Ideally I like to use external flash drive as Eclipse workplace.
Since Eclipse is GUI app, is there a way I can select the desired workspace and set the correct permissions from within Eclipse IDE ?
I got lost trying to use commands , sorry.

You can use File -> Switch Workspace to select a new workspace location, but file permissions you'll have to set using the OS to make the folder writable.

Does this apply to Eclipse 3.8 only?
Just downloaded and installed latest Oxygen and hand no problem using default Workspace.
Also when I change Workspace in 3.8 the whole app will reload.

I don't believe anything has changed in this regard. When you installed Oxygen, I assume the default Workspace wasn't on your flash drive, but rather in your home folder, which no doubt is writable by you. And yes, switching Workspaces will restart the application. The Workspace location (and particular the .metadata it contains), is needed by many bundles as they initialized, so is baked in early...
