Eclipse opens but won't do anything (main window stays empty) [message #1768718]

On my Mac 10.11.3 I've installed the Eclipse JEE IDE (Version: Neon.3
Release (4.6.3)).

If I try to open/create a project or file, Eclipse will let me fill the form
to define the project's parameters, but when I click on "Finish" nothing happens
and I am stuck with an empty main window :

index.php/fa/30075/0/

Any help appreciated.

You appear to have lost your editor area some how. The title bar and lower status area indicate that you have an editor open, so you appear to have created a project. Have you tried to reset the perspective from the Window->Perspective->Reset Perspective menu item? That should rebuild the perspective and show the editor area.

When I do that, I get the following pop-up :

Clicking on any of Yes or No simply closes the question box and returns to the initial empty window shown in my previous post.

I also tried the "Close all perspectives" menu item, and the only effect it has is to remove some items in the upper part of the window :
