The error
Could not write metadata for '/'
appears every few minutes while using Eclipse.

Could someone please tell me

1) What the metadata is for
2) how to get rid of the error

I've looked through these forums but have not found an answer.

Thanks for your time.

Mike

What is your workspace location? You shouldn't use the root of a file system for the workspace location...

The workspace is at home/<myusername>/workspace - or at least it should be.

Where in the setting for Eclipse can I verify what Eclipse thinks the workspace is?

Thanks

If you do File -> Switch Workspace -> Other... it will show your current workspace and you can open a new one in a different location, switching to that.
