User.setup preferences contains lots of REMOVE_PREFERENCES_MARKER [message #1761440]

Hey,

I got a weird Eclipse error message "Unsupported Endoding: REMOVE_PREFERENCE_MARKER". When I check the workspace preferences page, indeed, workspace encoding is set to "REMOVE_PREFERENCE_MARKER". I wonder where this bogus value comes from, and check the oomph user setup, which contains among others:

Do you have any clue where this may come from? I remember that I did this: I have recently just changed the workspace encoding preference from default (windows) to UTF-8. The oomph preference recorder asked me to record this into the user setup, I chose to "always ignore". That's all I did I think.

For now I just fix these values by re-recording the preference.

It looks like perhaps you're also syncing preferences with your Eclipse.org user account? Normally this value is a marker for deleted preference and the preference should have been removed from the user.setup. It's not clear what went wrong. But you could open a Bugzilla and we could do further testing to try to reproduce it....

Yes I do sync with eclipse.org. I will do look clearly if I can find a way to reproduce.
