I installed JDK 1.8.0_121 and shortly after, Eclipse started to hang. The hang was not entirely complete. I noticed that I lost functionality. For example, File Save would not save the file. File Exit got as far as the progress dialog showing that the workspace was being saved, but would not terminate completely. The only to get Eclipse to terminate was to use the task manager to kill it.

I reverted to JDK 1.8.0_111, and Eclipse is now running fine again.

Has anyone else seen anything like this w/ JDK 1.8.0_121?

I'm not entirely sure how to collect additional information. If anyone has a thought on that, I'm happy to try to capture some data to help investigate.

That seems unusual! It would be helpful to take some stack dumps during the hang (jstack) and then open a bug report at bugs.eclipse.org.

Some days after posting the original message, eclipse update reported that updates were available. I installed the update and end up with Eclipse 4.6.3.
Version: Neon.3 Release (4.6.3)
Build id: 20170314-1500

After installing the update, I started running eclipse in JDK 1.8.0_121 again, and now I have no hangs. However, after the install, the eclipse.exe file is no longer on the system. I have to launch eclipse using the eclipsec.exe file.
