I'm trying to setup the Eclipse workspace for XText.

I'm following the instructions at:

https://github.com/eclipse/xtext/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md#set-up-your-eclipse-workspace

Everything goes well until the xtext-umbrella repository is cloned:

Performing Git Clone git@github.com:eclipse/xtext-umbrella.git (master)
Cloning Git repo git@github.com:eclipse/xtext-umbrella.git to C:\Users\Eric\xtext-master\git\xtext-umbrella
java.lang.Exception: org.eclipse.jgit.api.errors.TransportException: git@github.com:eclipse/xtext-umbrella.git: Auth fail

I'm pretty sure I entered my credentials correctly (User ID have numbers only) and am wondering what I am doing wrong. Down the error message, it seems that oomph tries to clone over git-ssh, and I get confused as to what I should try next.

How are you guys setting the Eclipse workspace?

Btw I'm on Windows 64-bit.

Please let us know if you could fix your issues. I am pretty sure that the setup should work for all repositories.

That is what I did:

1) Create an SSH key with puttygen
2) Install the public key in my Github account
3) Tell Oomph installer to use my private key

And it worked!

It would be nice to update the instructions to mention about the fact that an SSH key is needed. All these steps are not obvious for people who are not coming from the eclipse world.

Now I'm scratching my head as to how I can build the Idea plugin.

Thanks Eric,

this will help us to enhance the documentation. I have opened an issue as reminder: https://github.com/eclipse/xtext/issues/1092

We did not recognize this since all of us have already proper GitHub accounts.

Hi,

I also have issues while setting up Eclipse workspace for XText on Fedora 25.

Everything goes well until some time. New eclipse is started. It's being configured, workspace build is started but then there are many compilation errors and error messages like "no more handles". I found out this can be related to GTK3 version but not sure if this is also the cause of compilation errors.

Could someone provide proven working configuration of:
- operating system,
- GTK version,
- options in Eclipse Installer like:
- product version (I tried with Neon),
- jvm (I tried with openjdk 1.8.0),
- target platform (I tried with Neon and Luna),
- any other which may be relevant.

Kind regards,
DD

But github authentication succeeded so I don't know what causes it.

Any hints?

Please run Maven with profile 'useJenkinsSnapshots' activated. This will enable resolving of 2.12-SNAPSHOT libraries from the Jenkins repositories.
