Fall is conference season. During the last week of October Budapest hosted two test-related conferences:
the Hungarian Software Testing Forum (HUSTEF) 2016 conference on the 24th and 25th, with somewhat more than 500 participants,

and ETSI's User Conference on Advanced Automated Testing (UCAAT) on the 26th to 28th , sponsored by Ericsson and Nokia, with about 200 partcipants (see https://ucaat.etsi.org/2016/ and https://ucaat.etsi.org/2016/program.html for the programme).
Interesting was the pronunciated presence of the automotive industry; also, lots of people are experimenting with Model Based Testing (MBT).
However my intention is to report from these conferences from Titan perspective, so I will brief the presentations where Titan was directly mentioned.
Titan also had a booth at both conferences and interest was surprisingly high.
At HUSTEF:
Tamás Bőhm and co-authors from Ericsson Hungary presented "Challenges and trade-offs in performance testing" which outlined
the design choices for an industrial-grade telco load generator capable of simulating the activities of millions of users based on TTCN-3 and Titan,

Aitor Ruano from the Spanish automotive company Applus+IDIADA had a presentation about "Developing an Open Source conformance testing environment for ITS communications" http://www.hustef.hu/hustef/web.nsf/0/D4FDE2B3CC782F14C1258003003FD6CA/$FILE/HUSTEF-2016_Developing-An-Open-Source-Conformance-Testing-Environment-For-ITS-Communications.pdf
based on conformance code and test adaptors from ETSI and executed by Titan.
At UCAAT:
Vilmos Beskid, Head of R&D Ericsson Hungary in his conference opening (https://ucaat.etsi.org/2016/documents/00_OPENING_BESKID_ERICSSON.pdf)
talked about open source software contributed by Ericsson (Erlang , Titan, Code Checker) and the interest around Titan which manifested itself in downloads of Titan binaries from 52 countries so far.
Next, in their tutorial, "Security Testing Using Models and Test Patterns" Bruno Legeard and Elizabeta Fourneret from Smartesting
discussed the possibility to generate TTCN-3 code for security tests from models and executing them with Titan, see https://ucaat.etsi.org/2016/documents/TUTORIAL_Fourneret.pdf
A very similar approach, but for IOT conformance tests was taken by Ahmad Abbas from Easyglobalmarket in his presentation

Finally, a presentation co-authored by György Réthy from Ericsson and Ting Martin Miao from KETI (Korea Electronics Technology Institute) with the title "Development of an Open-Sourced Conformance Testing Tool - oneM2M IoT Tester" see https://ucaat.etsi.org/2016/documents/S08_ERICSSON_RETHY.pdf
discussed an IOT conformance test tool which will be made available in open source and it is based on Eclipse Titan.
Also, two posters were presented, one by Gábor Árpád Németh from Ericsson, "A Finite State Machine-Based Description in Performance Testing" ( https://ucaat.etsi.org/2016/documents/POSTER_ARPAD%20-%20A%20Finite%20State%20Machine-based%20description%20in%20performance%20testing.pdf ),
closely connected to Tamás Bőhm's presentation at HUSTEF (see above),
and one by Aitor Ruano from Applus+ IDIADA , "Development of an Open Source Conformance Testing Environment for ITS Communications",
(https://ucaat.etsi.org/2016/documents/POSTER_RUANO_ITS.pdf), which is the posterized form of his HUSTEF presentation.
It was good to see the overall interest around Titan and the projects from diverse areas of testing it was used with.
