State Machine connector labels [message #1745642] Thu, 13 October 2016 13:39 Go to next message

On a state machine diagram, if I create a transition between 2 states and give the transition a name of "Transition", the connector is labeled with the name of the transition.
In the transition property view, I add a guard called "Guard" and an effect called "Effect" but the connector label does not change.
I bring up the context menu for the transition and select Label Manager but there is no option to make the connector the normal
<trigger>[guard]/<effect>

I found this old forum thread https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/151474/
which references this old bug
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=290237

which suggest that it should be possible.

Perhaps this has been changed to a CSS function?

Found this bug which seems to have been ignored since 2013.

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=345882

The version is very old, 0.8.1 but the bug still applies to 2.0.1. I've added this thread to the bug.

For those following this thread, the issue has been confirmed. The developers appear to prefer communicating in bugzilla rather than this forum so follow bug 345882 (see previous message) for updates.

Bug https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=345882 has been fixed.

Please note, that the appearance of the label can be configured via the Papyrus preferences or the CSS: https://wiki.eclipse.org/MDT/Papyrus/UserGuide/CSS
The relevant parameters are bodyCutLength", "indicateParameters" and "lineBreakBeforeEffect".
The latter has the advantage that the configuration can be done on a diagram basis.
