I'm working on a Mac OS X Yosemite with Neon.1
I'm trying to install arduino avr boards platforms.
I get "Installing tool avr-gcc" for a while. No errors (is there a log file?). The package/platform is not added.
Just to check things, I installed the adafruit avr boards successfully.

Since I couldn't find a log file, I looked at ~/.arduinocdt/downloads there is a file named avr-gcc-4.9.2-atmel3.5.3-arduino2-i386-apple-darwin11.tar.bz2
Tried to unzip it, after unzipping many files got the following error:

bzip2: Compressed file ends unexpectedly;
perhaps it is corrupted? *Possible* reason follows.
bzip2: Inappropriate ioctl for device
Input file = (stdin), output file = (stdout)

It is possible that the compressed file(s) have become corrupted.
You can use the -tvv option to test integrity of such files.

You can use the `bzip2recover' program to attempt to recover
data from undamaged sections of corrupted files.

tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

Tried to delete it and reinstall arduino avr boards platforms, didn't help.
Where is this file downloaded from?

The file
~/.arduinocdt/downloads/avr-gcc-4.9.2-atmel3.5.3-arduino2-i386-apple-darwin11.tar.bz2
is smaller in size than
http://downloads.arduino.cc/tools/avr-gcc-4.9.2-atmel3.5.3-arduino2-i386-apple-darwin11.tar.bz2
what gives? Crying or Very Sad
