On Eclipse Mars 4.5.2, running under Ubuntu, I cannot see
Help > Eclipse Marketplace
menu item.
Why ? How could I make it appear ?
Thanks.

The menus can be customized in the perspective settings.

Click: Window -> Perspective -> Customize Perspective ... -> Menu Visibility -> Help
and check if the Marketplace item is set visible.

Thanks, but unfortunately this item is not available at the place you mention, either.

Did you use the Eclipse installer to set up Eclipse?

How did you create your installation? Which package did you install?

Well, I am not sure, I installed Luna at the time it appeared, don't remind exactly how I did get the Mars version, by automatic update or installing the package on the Eclipse site. Anyway I did not compile Eclipse on my own.

EDIT If that may help, here is my Eclipse config.ini

So you're probably best to use the installer to install a brand new Mars
version of some package or download one of the Mars packages and
unzip/package it to a new location. Or wait until Wednesday and do
those same things, but get the Neon version. Failing that, it's hard for
anyone to comment informatively on why your
Luna-that's-somehow-become-Mars installation doesn't show the market
place options.

From what I understand. The Marketplace requires that the Eclipse
Marketplace Client is installed. I don't know if all of the Eclipse
download packages include this feature. You may have downloaded a
package that doesn't have the client prepackaged. You should be able to
install the client by going to Install New Software, selecting the
update site for you Eclipse release and searching for Market Place Client.

If it is installed, it should show up the Features tab of your
Installation Details dialog with the name Eclipse Marketplace Client

The default Mars installation (Java and/or CDT) set up by the installer does install Marketplace Client.

I have Mars in Kubuntu (several versions), installed with the installer, and it does have the marketplace.

The OP's installation may be fishy, and if I were him, I'd export the installation list to a .p2f file, discard the current installation and start downloading Eclipse Mars Installer. It can be used to install some base system (e.g. Java or CDT) and import the remaining modules using the exported .p2f file.
