Hi,

I made a post on a moderated forum earlier today, but it still hasn't shown up. I also read somewhere that these posts are usually moderated on the weekends. Is there any way to... speed things up a bit? I don't expect to get a reply as soon as my post is shown, but for as long as it's hidden there's absolutely no chance, and I'm on a tight deadline for this project I'm stuck with...

Thanks in advance.

First, this isn't exactly a "moderated" forum. There are folk standing
by to fix problems with the forum when needed, but the forum responders
are just like you (and me). Second, it's not "moderated" on the weekend.
In fact, the weekend is when answers are slightly less likely to come in
my observation.

Last, If you posted something that garnered no answer, it might be that
a) you didn't read the sticky posts at the top of the forum, b) you
posted a question that doesn't belong in the forum or c) your post has
no easy answer and you should break it down in to one or more smaller posts.

I don't remember your post. What were you asking?

Actually, some of our forums are moderated, to control spam threads at the least (you'd be surprised how many companies want you to buy their training videos and services by trying to advertise in this forum. Every. Day.). Usually the non-webmaster moderators are listed on the main forum index page--each forum could/would have different people--and "TMF (Xtext)" doesn't list any. As Russell points out, it is all voluntary, so how quickly things would be handled if it were moderated can vary.

Hmm... When I created the post, I got a message that the forum I'm trying to post on is "moderated" and that my post won't be visible until someone reviews it. I searched for that term and found some post which said moderators usually review on the weekends. My post still isn't visible, and that's precisely the problem.

Ah, sorry, okay, what Nitin said then: not all Eclipse forums are
identical. (This wasn't newcomers' forum then.)

If you're going off of https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?t=msg&th=360593&goto=884611&#msg_884611, that's referring to spam threads being removed, not actual posts being approved.

Maybe you should try your original post again?

All posts by new users are moderated, again as a spam fighting process. But the moderation of such messages is mostly by volunteers, so there are times when it's not handled right away.
Having said that, there is nothing in the moderation queue for your account and I don't see any TMF XText messages from your account either.

This forum software is not without its bugs, so my only suggestion is to write your message again; it should not have to await moderation this time.

Thank you for clearing that up. I posted my question again and it's visible now.
