Dear All,

I´m new to this topic and trying to understand how the cooperation with other partners could look like and how that affects the customers.

In the cooperation with Qivicon, the connection to Eclipse Smart Home is e.g. established via the Philips hue bridge How would a cooperation with other alliances like AllSeen, Thread Group or OCF look like? Do the customers need to buy an extra device in order to integrate a proper binding? This leads me to the question where the translation framework is running? In a hub? A cloud? A device?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Simon,

Are you talking about cooperation between companies or about interaction between devices?
Wrt the question of where Eclopse SmartHome is running: Well, it is clearly targeting home gateways, but in theory you can also deploy it in the cloud - but then you obviously will lose the possibility to use local radio protocols etc.

Regards,
Kai

Hi Kai,

thanks for your answer.

So either you use eclipse smart home via a home base (like Qivicon provides one) or you could use a cloud. You can´t connect devices directly without a home base or a cloud, right?

Best regards,
Simon

You need SOME hardware to run Eclipse SmartHome on, yes. This can be anything that is capable of running a JVM 7, see https://www.eclipse.org/smarthome/index.html#intro.
