Hello everyone,

I'm a new eclipse user. I'm using opensuse tumbleweed 42.1 .
I installed eclipse Mars .
When I try to open eclipse, an error message appears.
What is the solution for my problem ?

What's in the .log? Which JVM are you using?

See https://wiki.eclipse.org/Configure_Eclipse_for_Java_9 for how to work around the Java 9 issue until Oxygen.1a is released in a few days.

Hello, I had the same problem as the person just above. I've been struggling all day to install eclipse, it's just one problem after another. When you think it's over, well it's not. But praise the lord! I think it's over now

So! I clicked on the link, did what was indicated, and for those who are getting sleepy like me, don't want to read what is on this link, and just need a quick "how to", here is what you gotta do:

Open the eclipse.ini file with textedit (nothing else would work on my mac)
Add the " --add-modules=ALL-SYSTEM " line right after the " -Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.8 " line. Only the first one will do.
Don't forget to change the eclipse.ini permission first so that you can edit it (cmd+i).
Close the file, open Eclipse again and it should work fine now just as it did for me.

I hope this is my last problem with Eclipse, because at this rate I'm not going to learn Java anytime soon.

Also, there is that now (it's on the picture), I hope it won't cause me any trouble

It probably will. You need to go to your Installed JREs preference page and make sure a 1.8 JDK is listed there. If one is still installed, you might be able to just click the Search button and find it automatically.
