Hi all,

Since a few days (weeks?) I cannot see my workspace anymore. After
starting Eclipse, I see the flash screen, then it disappears and nothing
happens anymore. Starting it again gives the ‘workspace in use’ error.

Top of the log file:

The top of the log isn't enough to go on. The rest of it might indicate why it's trying to do this particular thing that failed, and whether it was ultimately what's causing your problem--non-fatal exceptions can be logged as well.
