Hello

I am newbie and having trouble installing Eclipse IDE. I have gone through the stickies and they don't apply to my issue. When I click on the install file the process starts and then shows an error that a network connection cannot be found. The system does have a network connection and I can navigate to the following site

http://git.eclipse.org/c/oomph.org.eclipse.oomph.git/plain/setups/

Within the error there is a button to check network settings and retry. If I set a manual entry for git.eclipse.org at port 80 or 8080 and try again it looks like the install is trying but fails after about 5 seconds. When I use the pre-loaded settings if fails instantly.

Thanks

Dan

Dan,

Are you being a corporate firewall?

Note that most of the setup information is in this one zip file:

http://www.eclipse.org/setups/setups.zip

If the proxy is correctly configured the models should all load and the
cache folder located in
<user.home>/.eclipse/org.eclipse.oomph.setup/cache should be full of the
cached files. In particular I would expect the file
http___www.eclipse.org_setups_setups.zip to be present along with
http___www.eclipse.org_setups_setups.zip.etag. Is that the case?

If not, you really must configure your network proxy correctly.
Correctness depends on how your firewall is configured, which I can't
know...
