Are there any eclipse builds for Solaris? If not, why? Can I help?
I would be willing to contribute a build, if possible..

After searching eclipse site, I did find a Solaris 10 GTK build for MARS.
eclipse-SDK-4.6M1-solaris-gtk-x86.zip
I loaded it and it works great.
If I can be of assistance in the build process, please reach out
to me.

A) What you have downloaded is actually the first milestone build of Eclipse Neon SDK, the 2016 release (indicated by the 4.6M1 in the file name). No harm in that, but if you want to get the Mars release version of one of the full packages, look here: http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops4/R-4.5-201506032000/

B) The EPP packages (those are what you get from the main Eclipse Downloads page) a few years ago explained that they don't have the hardware or people to build and validate Solaris builds. See https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=341994

C) If you are truly interested in helping kickstart production of Solaris packages, you could post something to the epp-dev mailing list with an offer to help. See https://dev.eclipse.org/mailman/listinfo/epp-dev
