I have standard Eclipse for Java development installed, and it seems to be working fine. But now I would like to also do some work in C++. I can see on the Eclipse web site that it's possible to install Eclipse for C/C++, but is that going to create a separate version of Eclipse? How will I choose which version to use?
In fact, if I understand correctly, the extensions that enable C editing are "plugins" or "tools" - but I can't figure out how to find those tools by themselves on the Eclipse.org web site.
If, in fact, the end result will be that I have one "core" of Eclipse running, with plugins for C, then will Eclipse decide which flavor of source code formatting to use based on the Workspace I select when I start it up?
Sorry for such newbie questions, but I'm just getting started.

You have both options of including the CDT plug-ins in your existing
copy or downloading Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers and consuming it
separately. It's up to you.

So, in essence, you've hijacked this thread to change it into a
Macintosh question. Just about no one is noticing. Post a proper
question rather than responding to an existing thread is best forum
etiquette.
I would answer you two, but I'm not a Macintosh guy. On Linux and
Windows, you don't need to rename copies of Eclipse, just keep them in
separate places of your filesystem. Maybe Macintosh does not tolerate
applications with identical names? (If so, just another reason Mac
doesn't interest me.)
