I am trying to install the DOT graph view and editor. I can not seem to do it.

I have tried the same sequence on Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers and Eclipse IDE for Automotive Software Developers from https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/ .

Each in turn I run. First thing I do with new download is go to Help->Eclipse Marketplace Search tab. Enter dot. Then install.

Now on installed tan on Eclipse Marketplace I have
Graphviz DOT for Zest (dot4zest) 2.0.0 snapshot
Zest 2.0.0 snapshot

*.dot files not recognised. No indication of dot file support.

I go to windows->Preferences->General->Editors->File Associations
*.dot does not appear in file types and no Associated editor connected with dot or grapviz.

Clearly I am doing something wrong, likely extremely basic, any ideas?

Graphviz is from a third party. You must seek help from it author(s).

Hi

Thanks for replying.

What I was thinking was that there might be some basic operation to activate a componet that I have missed. I have not done this before so there could easily be something I have not done. So the question is not so much what is wrong with the dot editor, but should the process have I followed got it, or in fact any similar component, to work?

Sorry.

Perhaps I'm not reading it correctly, but my take on what you report is
that a) you got the plug-in to install, then b) it is not behaving as
expected.
