Just to let readers of this newsgroup know, there is an "M6" version of the Callisto release
available via the Callisto Discovery site.
I'd recommend first reading the instructions at
http://download.eclipse.org/callisto/releases/
And, I would recommend starting with a "fresh" version of the M6 level of platform code.
The platform code itself can not, currently, be updated from that site.
Also, there are known issues running "M6 Callisto" on "RC1 base Eclipse" ... so, don't
get ahead of us! :) If you are going to do M6 Callisto, I'd recommend everything be at the
M6 level ... after all, that's what "simultaneous release" means.
But, otherwise, if you can, and are interested ... install it all!
See how many duplicate menu items or prefernce names you can find! :)
Maybe we should see who could actually use it all in one application!? Let's see,
a JSP servlet that calls out to a cgi C++ program which
captures some performance data and produces a nice looking report?
Oh ... well, I don't know ... have fun.

For what its worth I spent parts of my entire afternoon not experiencing
success with the callisto update site(s). On the bright side there were
no prompts about unsigned jars but that may just be because I didn't get
that far.
Callisto M6 update site(s) adventures
-------------------------------------
Starting with fresh Eclipse 3.2.M6 SDK, added the Callisto update site,
selected everything with the Show the latest version of a
feature only box checked and the Filter features included in other
features on the list box unchecked. The dialog says I have 24 of
22 selected. Looks like the visual editor and the JST are being counted
twice since they are both in two of the collections.
Click Next
Accept License
Click Next
Click Finish
1:35pm Update Manager status message starts counting from 0%
1:40pm seems stuck at 49% - alert box hiding behind main window, dig it
up, it says Update operation has failed, click OK
NOTHING was installed.
Try again, this time with the ibiblio mirror.
Select All again
24 of 22 selected
click Next
Accept License
Click Next
Click Finish
1:44pm start counting % again in the status bar
1:46pm stuck at 8%
1:47pm 9% whoohoo!
1:57 computer dog slow, update manager at 20%, network activity at 0% on
100Mb line
2:10 stuck at 38%, no network activity
2:20 still at 38%, still no network activity abort job
Well, it is Windows so I suppose we reboot and try again.
2:50pm restart eclipse
2:52 lets try the OSU mirror this time
clicky click click click click...
3:04 Update operation failed at 79% (so close and yet so far)
3:06 so ok, we'll see if we can get VE, webtools and EMF and friends
rather than EVERYthing- choose the main site this time
3:15 dead at 7% ?
update operation failed
one more time
4:20 use the OSU mirror, check web tools, modeling,
click select required - 8 of 22 selected
4:26 operation failed at 25%

Thanks Steve ... I guess if you ask for early testing ... its good to get some experience reports, even
if negative.
I certainly hope we can improve upon your experience! I do know of some actions being taken ... maybe a few more are needed?
But, your post reminds me, I should have originally mentioned, its good to open bugs on any problems found.
As usual, the more it can be narrowed down, or diagnosed where the problems lies the better.
(Your's was a good report, Steve, I especially liked the timeline! It helps highlight how frustrating it must have been).
For some bug reports, it might be unclear where the problem comes from (such as this one, update manager?, or mirroring ssytem?, or both?) so you can always use the "callisto component" under
the "Eclipse Foundation" --> "Community" part of bugzilla. It will be re-routed as its investegated, when appropriate.

No thread on early testing would be complete without Bjorn or I reminding
everyone about the Callisto great bug contest. See
http://www.eclipse.org/projects/callisto-files/callisto-bug- contest.php for
details.
There are prizes for both bug reporters and those committers who nominate
great bugs.
