While working through this https://wiki.eclipse.org/Xcore#Creating_a_Dynamic_Instance section of the xcore wiki page I noticed that the default editor view is the XML editor, not the "Sample Reflective Model Ecore editor". Yes I know I can pick it from the pop out context menu. My point is that the default behavior does not agree with the wiki page screen capture. If others can confirm the issue I will submit a bug report.

Paul,

This is the nature of Eclipse. Other plugins can introduce
capabilities, such as editors. It's not a bug that the Web Tools
project, when installed, decides its editor is very important and should
be the default.

If I understand what is being said correctly, then there is no way in Eclipse to say in my new plugin XYZ whenever a user double clicks on a file with an extension ending in "*.xzy" in a project of type XYZ use my XYZ editor. Is that correct?

Paul,

The user can set preferences.

Window -> Preferences -> General -> Editor -> File Associations

It just gets trickier when multiple plugins contribute to these file
associations, but the user can always decide which they prefer...
