Trying to set up Eclipse to learn Python and Java. Managed to download Python 3.2.3 and Java SE Development Kit 8 okay. But when I download Eclipse 3.7.2, extract files and try opening the Eclipse interface the opening window flashes up then disappears - no ability to run it at all.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong. I've made sure that all downloads are 32 bit in line with my OS - Windows 7.

Appreciate any help.

You'll find current releases at http://download.eclipse.org/ . I suggest trying a 32-bit download from there first.

Understand that you'll need:

1) A JDK to use to learn and use Java, and also to run Eclipse.

2) Python, which you've downloaded an installed.

3) Your choice of Eclipse IDE (as Nitin points out).

4) Last, after launching Eclipse, go to Help -> Eclipse Marketplace,
search for and download PyDev. When you configure PyDev, you'll be
telling it where to get Python from.

PyDev isn't supported by these Eclipse forums. You'll do better at
stackoverflow.com for problems arising using PyDev.

You may or may not find these notes useful:
