Hi,

I'm new on eclipse, EMF, and Sirius.
I'm trying to use Sirius.
By the way, do I need to have a meta model and a model corresponding to the meta model(I think this may be DSL model) using EMF before using Sirius?

Additionally, if I want to use the basicfamily example, how can I include in my eclipse? I don't know how to include plugin.

Could someone explain or indicate references for these?
Thank you so much.

Regards,
Eunjung Park

That's a lot to learn at once! Note that Sirius relies heavily on both
Eclipse and EMF, and most of our documentation assumes a working
knowledge of both.

Yes, you need a metamodel first. It corresponds to the "schema" of the
data you want to represent and manipulate with Sirius.

I could give you step by step instructions (see
https://wiki.eclipse.org/Sirius/Tutorials/4MinTutorial), but if you are
not already familiar with Eclipse as an IDE, you will very quickly get
stuck after that. I can only encourage you to familiarize with Eclipse,
its terminology and way of working before embarking in learning EMF and
Sirius.

The main help for Eclipse is at http://help.eclipse.org/luna/index.jsp,
but it is more of a reference documentation and probably not suited for
learning. http://www.vogella.com/tutorials/ has some free tutorials,
including http://www.vogella.com/tutorials/eclipseide.html about "basic"
Eclipse usage.

Hi David,

Thank you for your help.
I could success to execute the Sirius.
Fortunately, I could find some video clip on how to use EMF from installation to utilization.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdmclphMz1U&list=PL7d4qWHaspPEt8E2H8rs-pHbDVCX9kM2j
I think this will be very helpful to a new people on Sirius.
After we make the ecore(meta model) file using EMF, in a new eclipse window, we can make a model with Sirius, then can follow the 4 minutes tutorial.

I hope other new commers may get help from this.

Thanks again.
Regards,
Eunjung Park
