I need to generate reports with Html5, but I can't find a way with Birt. Does Birt only generate html4?

There is no out of the box html5 elements or emitter for open source BIRT. The commercial designer has the ability to create HTML5 charts. The iHub and iHub F-Type are able to render the reports with the HTML5 content. BIRT is fully extendable, so you could create your own html5 elements/emitters.
