Dear all,

After installing the available updates I am no longer able to change the colour theme for new workspaces. Right now all text based files are essentially unreadable:

index.php/fa/21064/0/

I have no error messages in the log. The build reported right now is the following:

Version: Luna Service Release 1 (4.4.1)
Build id: 20140925-1800

How can I change the theme to something readable? Thank you.

I have tried to uncheck the "System default" option for background and foreground (General > Editors > Text Editors), but still that way the colour theme is not being applied.

That's a third-party plugin providing the color theming (it's not provided by any eclipse.org project), so you'll have to seek support from wherever you got it.

Hi Eric.

Imagine I did not had this plug-in installed, how was I supposed to use Eclipse?

I don't understand the question. Tens of thousands, probably hundreds of thousands, of people have used Eclipse every day for 10+ years without that plugin. Recent versions of Eclipse even have a dark color scheme built in without the need for any third-party plugins (thought I don't use it, personally, because Windows isn't good at supporting dark themes).

Hi Eric,

I never used Eclipse on Windows, only on Linux. Ever since the dark theme was bundled by default with Eclipse I had to use the Colour Theme plug-in to get appropriate code foregrounds, otherwise it ends up with black-on-grey or black-on-black colour schemes, just as you can see in the figure above.

Would you confirm this is not the case on Windows? That being the case, then there is a problem with Eclipse itself on Linux.

Regards.

You can import the RainbowDrops.epf color theme.

Hi Sandro,

When I try to import this theme I get an error message: "This is not a valid theme file." Beyond this I doubt adding another theme to the existing collection would solve this problem.

This issue is now reported as bug 463586.

If anyone knows of a workaround please let me know. Thank you.

Yesterday I was forced to remove the Aptana plug-in for different reasons. After that the Colour Theme plug-in started functioning again.

Thank you.
