I already casted my vote. Come on Eclipse!! If it can win, maybe my
organization will think twice about those yearly JBuilder updates we pay so
much for!

Anyone have any idea why Eclipse doesn't show up under categories like
* Best Java App
* Best Debugging Envronment
* Best Team Dev tool

???

IDEA, JBuilder, Netbeans and WSAD show up, but not Eclipse! Is someone
stacking the cards so it looks like Eclipse is good for general IDE use but
not team use or debugging???

Not sure what the nomination process is. Eclipse does show up again in the
Most Innovative category.

Where are the Apache tools? What kind of a lack-brain makes the nominations?

I think the readers or the companies themselves submit the nominees.
I don't think the editors board is doing it.

Which are you enjoying most? The fact that Sun doesn't appear on the best JVM
page, or the fact that XMLSpy seems to be *everywhere*? I always love these
awards. :-)

They are very easy to manipulate. Many people have multiple email addresses
and their companies exhort them to "vote often".

After the voting is closed, they audit to eliminate duplicate votes.
Inorder to cast your vote more than once, it is not just the email address,
you need to have multiple work phone numbers too.. I guess they are trying
their best to eliminate duplicate votes in their final audit.

And yes, there might be a certain amount of manipulation. Just imagine, all
IBM employees are asked to vote for IBM products, they will certainly out
number others.

I'll bet they don't call all those numbers to see if they're real. ;-}

Places I've worked in the past, it was routine to ask all employees to vote
for company products. IBM would probably be embarrassed to do so, but many
companies have no shame.
