Simple search returns '0 matches in workspace' [message #309976] Tue, 14 November 2006 07:42

I'm running eclipse 3.2.1 [ Build id: M20060921-0945 (Fedora Core release
5.92 (FC6 Test3)) ]. I have the RadRails, RDT, and SubClipse plugins
installed as well. I'm also on an x86_64 processor.

When I try to search for, well, anything, eclipse returns 0 matches. On
another machine where I'm running eclipse 3.1 on FC5, search works fine,
so I know that I know how to do searches. It doesn't matter if I search a
single file, the enclosing project, or the entire workspace. I've searched
for words that probably have over 10,000 occurances throughout the
workspace and eclipse finds nothing. I've tried plain text and very broad
regexs (and yes, I'm very familiar with the concept of regexs).

Furthermore, it doesn't appear that eclipse is even trying to search.
Normally, on the other machine, a dialog opens and displays a progress bar
as it searches through hundreds of files in the workspace. On this machine
though (same hundreds of files), the word "File Search" displays for a
couple hundred milliseconds in the lower right corner of the window, and
then disappears, focus goes to the search view, where I'm told "'puts' - 0
matches in workspace. (*.rb, *.rhtml)"

When I tail the log file at
~/workspace/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.ui.workbench/log, while trying
to do a search, no errors are written to the log.

Anybody got a suggestion????
