Hello,

i am working with ganymade 3.4.0 and DLTK Build
dltk-core-M-M200809160708-200809160708-incubation
dltk-itcl-M-M200809160708-200809160708-incubation
dltk-tcl-M-M200809160708-200809160708-incubation
dltk-xotcl-M-M200809160708-200809160708-incubation

Most, but not allways i have the problem:
when i delete a character in the eclips tcl editor
the system will stop for 1 or 2 secondes before the character
will be deleded. If you want to write fast, this is very obstructively.

On this reason i have look in the preferences, but i found nothing to
disable
to correkt this problem.
Maybe the task function could be the reason, because her reaction on
changes is very fast. Is there a way to decrease the update time for the
TCL Task Tags ?
regards gunter

Hi Gunter,

Could you please write the size of the files you are editing?

I have just tried to edit the large file with 5k lines (~270kb) and it
looks really slow - we will try to optimize it on Monday. I will post
the results of our optimization efforts.

At the moment would you please try to close the outline view and disable
folding.

Task tags processing should not be slow, but you can disabled it in TCL
preferences if you like, unfortunately this preference is not persisted
in 0.95 - will be fixed in the next build.

Regards,
Alex

Gunter,

Last 0.95 build contains optimizations for large TCL files, though I
would recommend to use 1.0 integration builds - it is under active
development and have more features. The next 1.0 build will be available
on Monday.

Regards,
Alex

Hello Alex,
thank you for your answer.

to build 1.0:

i am a little bit confused about your messeage on your downloadpage:
"Important: DLTK version has been downgraded from 1.0 to 0.95"
so until now i use 0.95.

But now, if you recommend this, i will try 1.0.

to my file sizes:
my most files are not so big, but my project has nearly 150 files with a
complet size of 3.5MB.

regards
gunter

Hello Alex,

you are right.
Disable tasktags is not so effective like disable folding.

So i hope you will be very much successful with your optimization.

best regards
Gunter

Hello Gunter,

"version downgrade" message is dated May 2008 - the DLTK released in the
end of June 2008 with Ganymede (=eclipse 3.4) was initially planned to
have 1.0 number, but in a month before release it was renamed to 0.95.

So now the 1.0 version is planned to be released in the June 2009, and
at the moment we are ready to the M2 build.

The last integration build have been just uploaded to the eclipse.org
and it contains many TCL related optimizations. It should be available
for download shortly (usually it requires about an hour to replicate the
new files over eclipse download sites).

So you can turn on the folding with new build :)

Please make sure you have EMF runtime installed (there is a link on the
download page).

Regards,
Alex

Hello Alex,

i have installed I-I200809251012-200809251012.

but now it looks like: he found to much ;-}

some of my todo task will be shown in the task window twice.
But not all ???

Most taks are from type: DLTK Task
but some are also from type: Task

any idea ?
is this an error or a missconfigurtion ?
best regards
Gunter

btw: is it correct to install both EMF ?
emf-sdo-runtime-2.3.2.zip
and
xsd-runtime-2.3.2.zip

Hi Gunter,

It was an error in 0.95
Correct tasks should have "DLTK Task" type.

That's why they are shown twice - "Tasks" are kept from 0.95 and new
"DLTK Tasks" are created by the 1.0 version.

You are right about EMF: both components should be installed.

Regards,
Alex

Hi Alex,

wenn "Task" is a problem of 0.95 why i see it on 1.0 ???

At the moment i have a new eclips installation with dltk 1.0
and i see both type's "DLTK Task" AND "Task".

Is this a configuration problem or a second bug in 1.0 ?
clean an new build will not solve the problem.

Best regards
Gunter

btw: dltk for TCL is a realy nice tool.
i like it and i use it every day.

Tasks are persisted in the workspace.
The bug was that 0.95 created them of wrong type.
After they were created by 0.95 they will be kept in the workspace.
1.0 does not touch old tasks at the moment.

We have added the code to clean old task markers, so after the next
update task markers should be corrected.
