Hi,
We would want to create a workflow model and use the same in other workflow engine. Is it possible to have xpdl export/import from bpmn?

No, sorry. There are no plans to support XPDL any time soon. You may want to look into using XSLT to do this conversion - try a google search on "bpmn2 xpdl xslt transformation".
