Keep getting NoClassDefFoundError when AspectJ Capability is active [message #69444] Thu, 22 February 2007 08:32 Go to next message
Eclipse UserFriend
Hi,

Keep getting "NoClassDefFoundError" when AspectJ Capability is active.

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
se/stickybit/licensetracker/server/TestMissingRBKey

When I remove AspectJ Capability it does not happen.

Using a freshly installed Eclipse 3.2.2 with AJDT1.4.1.200611230655 (same old
workspace though).

Regards,
Jimisola

Do you have a full stack trace for the error? Can you check in the error
log?

The only output I get is "Exception in thread "main"
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: se/stickybit/licensetracker/server/TestMissingRBKey"

which shows in the console view.

I cannot reproduce now for some strange reason (Murphy most likely) as it's been
showing 9 out of 10 times for the last couple of days and been causing me a lot
of headache.

I think that this stacktrace is related:

You only see the NoClassDefFoundError error in the console, not the
error log? That suggests it only occurs when you launch something?

I can't say for sure if the NullPointerException is related, but that is
a clearly AJDT bug. I've raised this in bugzilla, and should have it
fixed soon:

The console output shows when I try to run/debug the application.

Come to think of it it could be that I used Run As Java Application initially
and not AspectJ/Java Application.

Anyway, I manage to test what I wanted and probably won't run the code again for
a while. If I see it again I'll get back to you. I found one bug at least :)

FYI, the NPE (bug 175123) is now fixed in the latest dev builds of 1.4.2
for Eclipse 3.2 and 1.5.0 for Eclipse 3.3M5.
