SWT ExpandItem widget layout/size problem [message #676300]

I'm seeing a problem where ExpandItem widgets are not sized/laid-out correctly when they are created/appear beyond the visible portion of the display, i.e. those widgets are only seen when the vertical scrollbar is used to bring them into view. Here's a screenshot of the problem:

I wrote some simple (non-production) test code to reproduce this issue but did not see the problem. Does anyone have any ideas about what might cause this behavior?
