M9: How to make order of editor tabs fixed? [message #248983] Thu, 03 June 2004 13:31 Go to next message

I'm using 3.0 M9. I find it a little inconvenient that the order of the
editor window tabs changes when I open a new file. I would much prefer that
the tabs show the files in the order that I opened them. When working with
multiple files, I would like the file that I reference the most to remain as
the first tab, regardless of how many files are open.

Is there any way to prevent Eclipse from reordering the editor tabs when a
file is opened?

If no, there should be. Any hope for 3.0?

This has been fixed in RC1.

Not entirely. After you open enough files so that the eclipse displays the
little tab that displays the entire list of files, the order starts changing
as new files are opened.

Please file a bug describing the current behaviour and your desired
behaviour. It is late in the development cycle to be changing this code,
so I wouldn't be too optimistic about seeing changes for 3.0.
