When using the standard way to record an RCP application with RCPTT as described in the tutorial, the test case requires an application that is packaged, i.e. that has a folder "plugins".

Is it also possible to directly record an RCP application from its compiled binaries in an Eclipse workspace, without packaging it as a product first?

Hi Matthias,

Sure, you can start your AUT from sources.
1) Install RCPTT into Eclipse Luna/Mars (from an update site of from Eclipse Market Place)
2) Checkout your sources and create Eclipse Application launch configuration as you would normally do.
3) In Run->Run configurations dialog find an 'Eclipse Application under Test' launch configuration type, create a new one and on launch configuration property page select your existing Eclipse Application launch configuration. If you switch to RCPTT perspective then, you should be able to see your AUT in Applications view and launch it.
