Hi,

is it possible to assign a specific user to a task on runtime? I did only find information about assigning a human task to a specific role, but for my workflow I need to set the user and not just the role.
I played around with the InData Mappings of the task I could not get it to work.

Any hints on how to accomplish that in stardust?

Greetings,
Steffen

Hi Steffen,

yes this is possible using a conditional performer. Please see
http://help.eclipse.org/luna/topic/org.eclipse.stardust.docs.dev/html/concepts/workflow-basics/mg-basics-9.htm?cp=60_4_0_8#condPerf

In some cases it is indeed necessary to assign work to a specific user. That is for instance the case when two tasks involve a specific customer and to establish a better customer relationship / service we want the customer to always interact with the same operator ("sticky user" pattern).
However, in most cases it is worth questioning if this is really required (or just the way the business currently works in it unsupported form). Frequently the requirement arises from an unclear definition of roles or from manual work assignment via paper which is replicated into IT. After some analysis it frequently turns out that a (possibly scoped) role-based approach would be more efficient after the business process has been changed from manual work assignment to a system supported task assignment.

If you decide to use this approach then the following links answer the questions that typically follow next:
