Hello,

I need to find a quick answer for minimum HW requirements for an RCP
project, for a company that has a range of PCs in hand. I currenly do not
have access to the existing hardware, therefore "see it for yourself"
isn't possible.

I know it is a bit vauge to ask such a question but since the company has
PCs ranging from PIIs/32MB RAM to P4 2.4 512MB PCs, I have to draw a line
somewhere for the hardware upgrade requirements.

For agents RCP, will run as transaction processing terminals like a bank
cashier and the software bundle will be as follows:
Fedora as the OS
Java 1.5
RCP as the application
EJB3.0 to communicate with the server

What do you think? Are there any people that were forced to run their RCPs
in low end PCs?

Thanks,
Ceylan

Did you look for such information on the RCP project pages at
http://www.eclipse.org/rcp/ ?
Did you try posting to the eclipse.platform.rcp group?

Good idea...

There is no official minimum, and of course it depends largely on your
particular RCP application's footprint. I have seen simple RCP apps
running on hand-held devices, so the requirements are not high. I
suspect a 400 Mhz machine with 128MB of RAM could handle most simple
applications. If you want to go even smaller, you may be interested in
eRCP which specifically targets embedded and hand-held devices:
