How can I avoid typing in an opened file?
Sometimes I need files open for reading/viewing. It would be nice to
have a "read-only" option to avoid accidental changes to the file during
marking/highlighting- and cut'n'paste-operations.
Is this possible? How?

That was my question... How do I do this?
In the Status-Line is a flag "insert". When I double-click it switches
to "overwrite", as expected.
When I double-click on "writable", nothing happens.

Hm, ok. But then it is a property of the file and not a property of the
editor.
Most modern editors allow a "viewing" mode with opened files. This
should not chance the property of the file itself.
This feature is not available in Eclipse? I think I will enter a feature
request then.
Thanks for your help.
