https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=287579#c4 mentions a
Preferences Spy View. I have never seen or heard of this, can someone
shed light?

Thanks,
Felix

Felix,

I'm not sure what it is either, but if you install
org.eclipse.oomph.preferences you'll get what's described in

http://www.eclipse.org/community/eclipse_newsletter/2014/november/article2.php

This will allow you to inspect all preferences, including secure
preferences. The editor is also a listener and will select preferences
that change. Just a caution as well: It's a little dangerous to leave
this editor open as the first editor tab when you shutdown because there
are tens of thousands of notifications on startup...

Ed, I unconditionally install anything that you recommend.

That's maybe sufficient for another cup of coffee. I'll leave it open
then, har har.

Thanks,
Felix
