Hi

I know there have been countless posts about Eclipse crashing but none of the details I can find match my problem, and none of the solutions I've seen fix it.

Eclipse crashes whenever it saves anything that's Java bases. It actually completes the save operation then it crashes.

This is Juno :- Eclipse IDE for Android Developers 23.0.2.1259578 adtproduct null

Java version is :-
java version "1.7.0_72"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_72-b14)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.72-b04, mixed mode)

OS is Kubuntu 14.10, 64 bit version.

It happened from a completely fresh OS installation (Eclipse was the 1st thing I loaded)

I've uploaded the log file but maybe this is the key bit?
# Problematic frame:
# C [libgobject-2.0.so.0+0x334ad] g_type_check_instance_is_fundamentally_a+0xd

Where can I go from here?

Thanks

Sam

What JVM/JDK have you specified Eclipse to run in? Have you tried updating to a most recent Eclipse release (Luna) - Juno is more than 2 years old.
Also note that questions about ADT or the bundled Eclipse+ADT should be directed to Android Developers forums, since eclipse.org does not produce or support ADT.

Standard Eclipse 3.81 is crashing for me with the same error code on Kubuntu 14.10 fairly fresh. I am using pydev. It runs for a while but then goes down during various operations.

FYI,
SolydXK forums • View topic - [SOLVED] Eclispe
from
[libgobject-2.0.so.0+0x334ad] g_type_check_instance_is_fundamentally_a+0xd - Google Search

BTW, on Kubuntu 14.10(fresh new installation),
I can reproduce the problem with Eclipse 4.2.2. (3.8.1 too)
Eclipse 4.4.0 has no problem about this issue.
Eclipse 4.4.1 has a problem similar to this issue. I've got eclipse crashed when I opened New Java Project Wizard or Preferences>General>Appearance or Run Configurations>new>JRE or... It is described here.
Bug 339174 Opening some dialogs in eclipse-4.4 freezes the application with oxygen-gtk2-1.4.5
The workaround is to use GTK theme other than oxygen-gtk. (this is mentioned in the above SolydXK forum topic also)
Or to modify /usr/share/themes/oxygen-gtk/gtk-2.0/gtkrc.
Each of these workarounds works for me on both 4.2.2 and 4.4.1. (since I'm not using Eclipse nor Kubuntu, "works" doesn't mean "works perfectly")

Hi

Sorry for the delay in replying...

OK, Juno was the version that got downloaded with the ADT pacakge, but I've upgraded it to Luna. I also changed the GTK theme from Oxygen as that seems to create problems.

So far so good.....

Cheers

Sam

Hey Toshihiro

You beat me by about 30 seconds.... I got to the same point as you and as I've said in my previous post it seems to be working.

For anyone else's info, I got the erroro about Oxygen by launching Eclipse from a terminal session... when you run it by clicing the executable you don't see the actual failing message.
