Occasional author corruption on commits [message #25558] Mon, 14 July 2008 16:21 Go to next message

Greetings,

We have 3 programmers using Eclipse w/Subversive, 2 are having flawless
experiences and 1 keeps having problems with commits. Occasionally when
they make a commit the author property is corrupted and is committed with
seemingly random control characters. This of course is fouling up SVN XML
operations (updates, logs, etc.) causing Malformed XML errors. We can fix
it by doing a propset for that revision but we would like to see the
commit problem go away so we dont have that extra step.

We've removed and reinstalled Eclipse on this user's PC multiple times and
they still get the corrupted author commits. That PC is running Eclipse
3.3.2 and we've installed Subversive using the instructions at:
http://www.eclipse.org/subversive/documentation/gettingStart ed/aboutSubversive/install.php.
Has anyone seen this before and knows how to fix it?

Chad

Hello Chad,

It looks like problem is related not to Subversive installation process,
but to compatibility between SVN server and SVN connector library. Another
reason for this problem probably could be related to network failures.
In order to avoid this problem you can do following:
1) Check the server version and ensure it is supported by used SVN
connector
2) Check if problem persits while connecting to another server
3) Check if problem persits while connecting using different protocol
