Hi,
[ This reply is not meant about whining, rest assured that I've been in
this area long enough to don't get offended with a posting like this. ]
Let me add some background for those following along because I can't
help but getting drawn from you in a light of only helping on a paid
base which is far from true. Just look at my track record on Eclipse and
opensource in general.
You asked a question on stackoverflow and got a reply from me [1] within
1h (to a question which as you can see is not suited at all for
stackoverflow but still I helped) and your comment already tried to push
towards me (see 2nd comment because I didn't reply within freaking 1 hour?).
Next you sent a tweet asking for E-Mail and/or Skype support [2] and
there I replied that we are providing free support for e(fx)clipse on
the forum and dared to point you towards a payed service of
BestSolution.at - the company who as payed until today everything you
get for free!
And what I got back is: Close the source, ... .
This direct pushing towards opensource projects is something happening
more and more to many of us (e.g. google for the iText story and why it
is *not* under a permissive license anymore). Please stop that!
Sorry to tell you that but I don't have any problems to make money of
the work we provide for free (Sidenote we haven't made any cent of
e(fx)clipse until today) if you are not happy with the forum replies.
So there's not collision between my payed work for BestSolution.at and
e(fx)clipse if BestSolution.at would not pay my bills there would be no
e(fx)clipse.
You are right the tutorials are maybe not for OSGi newbies but then we
are also not an OSGi learning project, we try to hide OSGi as much as
possible from users by providing clever wizards, ... .
If someone steps up writing those tutorials I'm always there to help
proofread, provide guiding, fix errors, ... what I require although is
that there's a start for that and it's not me who has to make the first
step.
To finish up my proposal is:
* get a book on Equinox
* get a book on JavaFX
* go to conferences like JavaOne, EclipseCon, Democamps, Hackathons, ...
* ask dedicated questions on problems you face
* understand that forums and stackoverflow are not there to do the work
for you but help you when you have specific problems
One of our current targets is not leave no developer behind when they
want to make use of e(fx)clipse. So sorry if my replies push you towards
other frameworks I'm confident that e(fx)clipse is one of the best
choices for professional JavaFX applications.
