Hello,

I am a newbie regarding the use of Eclipse.
Was using Windows 2003 and installed Eclipse.
Seemed to work. But I can't do any upgrades:

I get the following messages:

Network connection problems encountered during search.
Unable to access "http://download.eclipse.org/releases/europa".
Error parsing site stream. [Premature end of file.]
Premature end of file.
Error parsing site stream. [Premature end of file.]
Premature end of file.
Unable to access "http://update.eclipse.org/updates/3.3".
Error parsing site stream. [Premature end of file.]
Premature end of file.
Error parsing site stream. [Premature end of file.]
Premature end of file.

I wanted to try to find and install an UML plugin.

Any recommendations regarding the latter or ideas about my problem?

Thanks for reading this!

Are you sure you're not behind a firewall or proxy?
If so, set your preferences (Window, preferences, general, Network
connections

Lots of UML tools I know are quite expensive. For a free one look at
AmaterasUML.

Thank you,

It is probably indeed a firewall issue.
Told my boss about it and he will talk about it with the enterprise
responsible for our sys-adminstation. Low priority though, which
means I will have to wait a while.

About the UML stuff, so there are no free plugins for Eclipse?

Hi. If you look at the Eclipse.org website, you will see a section
halfway down on the left called Eclipse Plugin Central. That currently
lists 35 UML plugins, at least some of which are free.

Also, you should read about the Eclipse Modeling Project, which
contributes a number of UML-related features to Eclipse. It is not
listed in Plugin Central, since it is part of Eclipse.

Hope this helps. Mark

Even if you are behind a web proxy, you can specify the proxy
information to Eclipse so that it can get through it to download
updates. Open the Preferences dialog and type "proxy" into the search
field to find the appropriate preferences section.

Hope this helps,
Eric
