Hi,
I just want to add the selected text count in the status bar of Eclipse, when we move the caret we can already see the coordinates of the caret, but if we selected text there's no way to see selected text count as in Notepad++(for example). I tried to find a plugin that enable this feature but I can't find anything ...

Since there is nothing around there I would want to develop the plugin myself, can somebody show me an example on how to :

  • Ge selected text in the current editor
  • Show text in the status bar (near caret coordinates)
