Is it possible to share or otherwise render global (servlet container scope) an application managed persistence unit?

I don't see any reference to JNDI for other than connection pooling.

I have two applications served by a global connection pool under Tomcat and would like to be able to share the persistence unit as well if possible.

I tried to relocate my singleton factory class to a higher classloader but that presented other issues so I've backed off for the moment.

Any insight appreciated.
