Hi all,

Basically, I was ask to look at how TPTP can be integrate with an in-house
tool we are developing. Now, this tool currently gathers specific metrics
which is just being written out to a log file, all monitoring is done
through the console in Eclipse Workbench. After working through the
Tutorial from the EclipseCon ("Using Test and Performance Tools Platform
Logging and Monitoring Tools"), I've come up with the following idea: My
idea is to customise a data collection agent (like the example in the
tutorial) to send back these metrics for monitoring (eg. I would like to
monitor the number of active threads vs time). Am I on the right track
here? Advices will be much appreciated :)

Thank you,
Sylvia

Hi Sylvia,

This sounds like a good fit. Using a data collection agent you can send
back both statistical data and log data which will allow you to populate
the TPTP statistical and log models. Once you're populating those
models you get all the viewers and other UI that sit of top of them for
free (e.g. statistical viewer, log correlation etc).

cheers

Antony
