Make Search case-insenstive by default [message #215572] Wed, 13 June 2007 18:21 Go to next message

I'd like to make the Search->File option default to a case-insensitive
search. Every time I restart Eclipse, the Case-Sensitive box is checked
by default. Any suggestions?

Jesse,

I don't see a preference for this, but I wonder what the Customize...
button does? Maybe that saves the choices?

Don't be afraid - click it and you'll see what it does ;-) There's no
relation to how a search is performed.

I don't see this behavior (using 3.3.RC4). Note that like all Eclipse
dialogs it remembers the values of the last successful usage i.e. if you
open the dialog, change some options and close it again it won't store
your changes but if you adjust the options and then perform a search it
will keep your last used settings. If that doesn't work for you using
3.3 RC4 or newer then please file a bug report against Platform Search.

Dani,

I did and a dialog with check boxes came up. But it wasn't clear what
that dialog did either. Silly me. I see now that it lets you hide
pages you don't want to see. :-)

Is it possible that your workspace prefs are read-only (e.g., because of a
version control system or a shared file system)?

I was using 3.2.2. Upgrading to the suggestion version fixed my problem.
Thanks!
