Hi,

I'm generating a HTML page. Unfortunately I have some problems dealing
with special characters, for instance german umlauts like ä. Is there a
function that escapes them for me into this $...; Noation?

If you ensure that you use an encoding like UTF-8, it wouldn't need to
be escaped. When you are saving the generated result, are you being
careful about specifying the encoding explicitly?
