Can't Run a Class With Firefox Running [message #212415] Mon, 28 May 2007 04:33 Go to next message

I'm on Linux, Ubuntu Feisty Fawn and using Eclipse 3.2.2 and Java 1.6. I've
had a few odd problems, and would guess this is from Firefox (Version
2.0.0.3 for Ubuntu Feisty). When I run Eclipse, I have no problems at all,
but now, I've noticed if I run Eclipse, then run Firefox, which I tend to
keep up so I can check news when I take a break, I have problems. When I
try to run my program from Eclipse, I get "Error occurred executing command
line." If I quit Firefox, there's no problem, but if I run it again, I get
the same problem from Eclipse again.

This may be more a Firefox problem, since it seems it is slowing down other
programs as well (I can't tell yet if it's a display issue since I'm
temporarily using an older driver). I can't find much on Google (too high
a noise to signal ration).

What could Firefox, or another program, be doing that would give Eclipse
problems like this?

Hal

Firefox could be running the Java plugin which I guess is possibly
interfering with your application launch. I've never heard of such a
conflict, but they are both using a JVM so...
It would probably help to see the .log file from your workspace
..metadata directory. Please clear out that file, then when you see the
problem immediately go capture the contents of the .log and post them here.

Hope this helps,
Eric
