Eclipse UserFriend
Hello,

I'm seeking some advice on how best to configure Eclipse to meet my current needs. In the past, I have always used Eclipse on a local machine (with plug-ins for R/C++/SVN/Toad). My company is now exploring moving most of the large sets of data that I analyze to a remote data center, and I'd like to be able to:

  1. Keep using Eclipse running on a local machine (to avoid issues like keystroke latency that would arise from VPN/NX into the data center)
  2. Maintain my workflow, which involves a lot of execution of Java within the IDE, but to point my run configuration to the remote machine.

My searching has come up with the synchronized projects feature of PTP, but that seems to be specific to C++. Is there a similar option for Java projects (ideally one that plays nicely with Subclipse and has synchronized local/remote copies of files to speed build time when clicking 'Run')?

Many thanks!
