subversive asks 100 times a day for password [message #20225] Sat, 07 June 2008 04:41 Go to next message

For some reason I cannot figure out, Subversive with SVN Kit 1.2.0 keeps
asking for password at least 10 times for browsing any repository. I have
the option checked to remember the password but the dialog keeps coming
and I have to press "Ok" every time. Any suggestions?

I remember this problem from using Subversive while still a Polarion
only project about 2 years ago.

In our case, this was related to using a proxy at a large customer.

Are you behind a proxy or firewall?

Not at all... In which file are the password stored? Even unchecking the
password box for "remember" doesn't seem to do anything. Also it looks
like this issue occurred last time I did a major version upgrade of
subversive.

Erik.

Hello Erik,

I tried to reproduce described problem, but I can't. Could you please
provide some steps to reproduce and additional information?
1) Is it the latest Subversive build or not?
2) Which protocol you use (http, https, svn or svn+ssh)?
3) Repository URL (only if it is public and accessible through Internet)?

P.S.
Latest Subversive version uses Eclipse Platform services for storing
secure information.

Do you know if the Eclipse Platform services part of the base Eclipse
3.3.2? I am running the Eclipse Classic 3.3.2 and I am encountering
problems with logging a subersion repository using svn+ssh. I am using
svnKit 1.1.7. I think my problem originates from svnkit.

I was also having this problem. Today I found a way around it. Check
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=221094

There is not that much information, but thing is I just changed a
DEFAULT_ID from 'svnkit' to 'svnkit15' and it worked.

In order to do this you have to get subversive sources and, after making
the modification above, build the plugin into something like
org.eclipse.team.svn.core_0.7.1.I20080612-1500.jar. Then copy it to
eclipse/plugins directory and restart eclipse.

Note that, afterwards, while svnkit 1.2.0 connector will work, svnkit
1.1.7 connector will show this exact same problem.

Hello Fabio,

You also can try to switch connectors without changing and recompiling the
Subversive code. In order to do this please use optiona at
Window->Preferences->Team->SVN->SVN Connector.

Thanks, Alexander, but I already had my working copy converted to svn 1.5,
so I think I have to use svnkit's development version. Right?

Yes, you are right. Its name in plug-in preferences is SVN Kit 1.2.0
development.
